“Back to You” was inspired from another 11:59 Songwriting Group prompt…the number 12. I dove into a dark night of the soul moment. One of those night-sweat, midnight overthinking, over-feeling sort of moments where you have a reckoning with your soul. I wrote it in 12/8 time and really felt into my rock-bottom moments and what the small seeds of hope were that pushed up through the muck – the desire we all share to be loved for who we are, despite our mess, the hope that we can return to our “true self” when we’ve fallen from grace. I produced it with Katie Marie at Blue Rock Studio with Chris Gebhart on guitar and keys and Matthew Lindsey on bass. Katie played drums and sang some as well.
