About the Artist
Wendy Colonna is a Louisiana-born, Texas-based songwriter whose soulful Americana has earned acclaim around the world. Her new single, "Nightingale" — inspired by Kristin Hannah's bestselling novel The Nightingale — is the first release from BANNED, a collection of original songs inspired by books being challenged and banned across America. Critics from Portugal to Mexico to the U.S. are taking notice:
"This deeply reflective meditation on love, healing, and the resilience in the aftermath of pain is flawlessly conveyed through Colonna's rich, powerful vocals."
— CaesarLiveNLoud (Portugal)
"Hope is not portrayed as naive optimism but as a conscious act of endurance."
— R+ (Mexico)
"Wendy's vocals and the track's superb string production will hypnotize listeners and transport them into France during World War II."
— Jake's Take (USA)
At this show, Wendy will perform "Nightingale" live and share the backstory of the song and the BANNED project. And because this is a bookshop, after all — Ben will have copies of Kristin Hannah's The Nightingale for sale, along with one of Wendy's other favorites in the same spirit, The Women.
