Why I'm Not Quitting Music
February 1, 2026
The industry is broken. The world is on fire. And I still believe music is essential.
Like so many other career musicians and artists I know and work with, I've been sitting with why I still put music out into the world. The industry is broken. The world is on fire. We all find ourselves bouncing between the story the world tells us- that music is a luxury in a crisis, and the real truth that it's essential. Like food. Like water. Like oxygen.
I haven't released new music of my own in about a year and a half. I'm still writing when I can. I'm just not moving at the same pace I once did.
In that time I've been mentoring indie artists, working with organizations and communities I believe in, and parenting. A big part of my life these days is spent pouring into other creative professionals, sitting with them inside the same questions, helping them navigate the same challenges, while they're making some of the most beautiful work of their lives.
I've also been writing. Living. Mothering. Loving. Grieving. Paying bills.
Every time I start circling that drain, something tends to happen.
I get an email.
Not from a label. Not from a gatekeeper. Not from someone offering a big break.
From a human.
That the music sat with them. That it helped.
That's all.
And really, that's everything.
So I'm recording two new songs.
Not because I cracked a code. Not because I solved the music industry. Not because I suddenly became strategic.
But because I still believe in songs as medicine. I still believe in music as a companion. I still believe in offering what feels true and letting it travel where it's meant to go.
