Wendy Colonna reflects on the 11:59 Songwriting Showcase at The 04 Center and making live music more accessible with ASL interpretation.

Songwriting is usually solitary. The 11:59 group gives it deadlines, community and a stage.

The 11:59 Songwriting Group has been part creative practice, part accountability and part reminder that songs get stronger when we keep making them.

Our April showcase at The 04 Center brought a group of songwriters together to share the work publicly, with ASL interpretation helping make the performance more accessible.

I love the full circle of it: write the thing, bring it into community, then let it belong to the room.
