Y'all. Remember that bathhouse demo I posted back in October?
Here's what it turned into.
I wrote this one at Crooked Crow — my first songwriting retreat, out at Chinati Springs. After overfunctioning a little too much in my day to day life, I needed the retreat to remember music and slowness and hear those quieter creative voices inside. Johann Wagner runs it like we're all just kids playing games — whimsy and lightness and sacred reverence all in the same room. Exactly what I needed.
It also came from reading Kristin Hannah's novel (based on true accounts), The Nightingale in our banned books club.
I met songwriter and musician Charlie Craichey from North Carolina at the retreat and we just ended up playing with the song and his guitarwork was so elegant and harmonies so haunting and right fit. Then months later I asked him to sing and play on the track. His vocals, guitar work and cello arrangements are sooooooooo cinematic and amazing, y'all. You can hear it. Gah. I love collaborating with awesome musicians!

I'm SO GRATEFUL to be able to make new songs in this messed up economy of music.
THANK YOU for trusting me with your love and investing in my work <3
