Hello Lovelies,
It's been a wild, full season. Travel, kid-pitch baseball, client sessions, shows, mothering, and now we're heading swiftly into “Rocktober," our family's loving term for the insanity of fall events and shows.
Over Labor Day weekend, my family took a trip to Colorado, where a friendship between our families, one that started two generations ago in the tiny town of Lake Arthur, Louisiana, brought us together again at Benjamin's Bookshop. I sang "Nightingale" for people who've known my family longer than I've been alive, and it felt like no time had passed at all.
Then last weekend, Barbara and I hopped on the highway headed for Tulsa, where we performed for a fundraiser benefiting She Brews, an organization helping formerly incarcerated women transition into the workforce. We were overwhelmed by the generosity, love, and hope in that room. What an honor.
There is so much uncertainty these days and it feels like so many crazy things are trying to tear us apart. I am so damn grateful for live music and its power to lift us in our souls when we're weary, and weave a little hope or recognition into our hearts when we feel the waves of worry and despair.
